Binawi na ng Department of Agriculture (DA) ang umiiral na temporary ban sa importasyon ng domestic at wild birds, kabilang na ang poultry products mula sa Belgium matapos makumpirmang napigilan na ang pagkalat ng avian flu sa nasabing bansa.
Ang paghihigpit ay naunang ipinatupad ng DA matapos ang pagkalat ng highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) sa bahagi ng Belgium noong Pebrero 17 upang protektahan ang local poultry industries mula sa posibilidad na pagkahawa.
