Ayon sa DFA, bahagi ito ng Routine Welfare Check sa dating pangulo.
Ipinaliwanag ng DFA na ang ganitong pagbisita ay Standard Practice sa lahat ng Philippine Foreign Service Posts at walang pinagkaiba sa ibinibigay na Assistance sa iba pang Pinoy na nasa Detention Facilities sa ibang mga bansa.
