“President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has announced that he is set to appoint Senator Juan Eduardo “Sonny” Angara as the new Secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd), replacing Vice President Sara Duterte who resigned last June 19, 2024, effective July 19, 2024,” pahayag ng PCO.
Ginawa ni Pangulong Marcos ang anunsyo sa ika-17 Cabinet meeting sa Palasyo ng Malakanyang.
Ayon sa pangulo, tinanggap ni Angara ang alok na maging DepEd secretary.
“Sonny has agreed to take on the brief of the Department of Education,” pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos.
Naging kilala si Angara bilang tagapagtaguyod ng edukasyon ng bansa.
Nagtapos si Angara sa Master of Laws sa Harvard University, Bachelor of Laws sa University of the Philippines, at Bachelor of Science in Economics sa London School of Economics.
“DepEd is arguably the most important department given the crucial role of education,” pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos.
“We have many excellent candidates,” pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos.
