NAGBITIW na si Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin Romualdez bilang speaker ng House of Representatives.
Sinabi ni Romualdez na habang tumatagal ang kanyang pananatili sa posisyon ay bumibigat ang kanyang dinadala sa Kamara at sa pangulo na palagi niyang sinusuportahan.
Aniya, matapos ang malalim na pag-iisip at taimtim na pagdarasal, nagpasya siya ng buong puso at may malinis na konsensya, na bakantehin ang kanyang posisyon bilang house speaker.
Idinagdag ni Romualdez na ginawa niya ito upang malayang magawa nang walang pagdududa, panghihimasok at impluwensya ng Independent Commission for Infrastructure ang kanilang mandato.
Paulit-ulit na nabanggit ang pangalan nina Romualdez at Dating House Appropriations Panel Chairman Zaldy Co kaugnay ng komisyon mula sa umano’y maanomalyang Flood Control Projects.
Binigyang diin din ni Romualdez na ang kanyang pagbaba ay hindi pagsuko kundi katapatan sa serbisyo.
Samantala, inihalal ng mga miyembro ng Kamara si Isabela 6th District Rep. Faustino “Bojie” Dy III bilang house speaker, kapalit ni Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin Romualdez.
