Ayon kay PNP Spokesperson Police Col. Allen Rae Co, batay kasi sa datos, tumataas ang bilang ng CICL o Children in Conflict with the Law.
Mula sa edad na kinse, nais ng PNP na maibaba sa edad na dose ang maaaring mapanagot sa krimen.
Magugunitang edad katorse at kinse ang dalawang menor de edad na sangkot sa trahedya sa paaralan sa Tacloban City.
Ang katorse anyos ay hindi pa maaaring mapatawan ng criminal liability batay sa isinasaad ng Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act.
Samantala, kinontra ng Kabataan Party-list ang mga panukalang ibaba ang edad ng mga batang maaaring mapanagot sa batas kapag nakagawa sila ng krimen.
Kasunod ito ng mga lumalakas na suporta na mula sa kinse ay ibaba sa dose ang edad na maaaring mapatawan ng criminal liability.
Sinabi ni Kabataan Party-list Rep. Renee Co na naniniwala silang hindi dapat maharap sa mas matinding kalupitan ang mga batang nakagawa ng pagkakasala.
