Ilang gamot pa sa sakit na cancer, diabetes, hypertension kidney disease, mental illness at tuberculosis ang nabigyan ng VAT exemption ng Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
Ayon kay BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui, batay sa Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 17-2024, dalawampu’t isang gamot ang nabigyan ng VAT exemption.
Inilabas ng BIR ang circular matapos na iendorso ng Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ang updated na listahan ng mga produktong dapat ma-exempt sa VAT.
Ito ay sa ilalim ng Republic Act No. 10963 o Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law at RA 11534 o Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises Act (CREATE).
Ayon kay Lumagui, epektibo na ang circular at dapat sundin ng mga drug store at botika.
