NAG-release ang Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Eastern Visayas, sa pakikipagtulungan ng 143 Local Government Units (LGUs) sa rehiyon, ng 1.59 billion pesos na halaga ng social pension funds para sa mahihirap na senior citizens sa unang semester ng 2026.
Ayon kay DSWD-8 Information Officer Jonalyndie Chua, aabot sa 267,000 senior citizens ang nakinabang sa programa sa unang quarter habang 263,315 sa second quarter, kung saan bawat benepisyaryo ay tumanggap ng 6,000 pesos para sa anim na buwan.
