INAMYENDAHAN ng Sangguniang Panlungsod ng Calbayog ang naunang inendorsong Gemini Wind Energy Corp. (GWEC) Project, na kinapapalooban ng konstuksyon ng wind turbines sa loob ng Calbayog Pan-as Hayiban Protected Landscape (CPHPL).
Nakasaad sa resolusyon ang masidhing pagtutol sa wind turbines sa loob ng protected area at nagde-demand ng restoration o pagbabalik sa original area ng “Strict Protection” Zone sa CPHPL.
Ito ay bago ang rezoning ng Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) para palawakin ang Multiple-Use Zone at bawasan ang protected area, na inilarawan ng mga kritiko bilang underhanded o ginawa ng pasekreto para i-accommodate ang GWEC Project.
Umani ng atensyon ang proyekto matapos matuklasan ng publiko sa online na ilang wind turbines ang itatayo sa protected area sa Calbayog.
