IPINADEDEKLARANG special holiday sa Eastern Samar ang March 17 kada taon bilang paggunita sa araw ng pagdating sa Pilipinas ni Ferdinand Magellan.

Sa House Bill Number 122 na inihain ni Eastern Samar Representative Christopher Sheen Gonzales, ipinanukala nito ang paggunita taon-taon sa “Homonhon Landing Day”.
