NAGHAIN ng resolusyon sa Kamara si Batangas 1st District Representative Leandro Legarda Leviste para himukin ang gobyerno na tipirin ang gastos sa hosting ng ASEAN 2026 at gamiting pangtulong sa mamamayan ang perang matitipid.
Ayon kay Leviste, kung sisikapin ng gobyerno, kayang makatipid ng hanggang 22.9 billion pesos.
Sa House Resolution Number 911, hinihikayat ang Office of the President at iba pang ahensya ng gobyerno na gamitin sa social aid at relief measures ang halagang matitipid.
Sa 2025 national budget, naglaan ng 5.4 billion pesos para sa ASEAN 2026 at 17.4 billion naman ang pondong inilaan sa ilalim ng 2026 budget.
Dahil mahalaga ang pag-host ng Pilipinas sa ASEAN, sinabi ni Leviste na hindi naman ito dapat kanselahin, pero dapat ay tipirin na lang ang mga gastusin para dito.
