Ayon sa ulat, natanggap ng Tactical Operations Center (TOC) ang impormasyon mula sa isang concerned citizen bandang alas-1:10 ng madaling araw. Agad na rumesponde ang mga awtoridad upang beripikahin ang insidente.

Ang granada ay natagpuan ni Lydia Dabandan Mendiola, 46 taong gulang, isang tindera at residente ng nasabing barangay.
Sa kanyang salaysay, habang inaayos niya ang mga kahon ng prutas sa kanyang tindahan, napansin niya ang isang nylon string na nakatali sa mga kahon. Nang kanyang siyasatin, natuklasan niya ang isang orange na PVC pipe na may laman na granada. Dahil dito, agad siyang humingi ng tulong sa mga Barangay Tanod.
