PLANO ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 8 (Eastern Visayas) na mag-release ng 3.49 billion pesos na halaga ng special pensions sa mahihirap na senior citizens, ngayong taon, katuwang ang Local Government Units (LGUs).
Ayon kay Atty. Jonalyndie Chua, DSWD-8 Information Officer, inaasahang makikinabang sa programa ang 291,507 senior citizens na hindi nakatatanggap ng pensyon mula sa government o private firms.
Aniya, pinagtibay ng DSWD Field Office ang kanilang commitment sa beneficiaries at stakeholders sa pamamagitan ng sustained at pinalakas na implementasyon ng programa.
Sinabi ni Chua na inihahanda nila ang pagre-release ng pondo sa LGUs, sa ilalim ng Transfer of Funds (TOF) modality, kung saan ililipat ng DSWD ang budget para sa Social Protection Programs direkta sa LGUs.
