MAGHA-hire ang Department of Education (DepEd) ng 436 na bagong counselor associates para sa public schools sa Eastern Visayas ngayong taon upang makatulong na palakasin ang school-based mental health services.
Ayon kay DepEd Eastern Visayas Regional Information Officer Jasmin Calzita, layunin ng recruitment process na tulungan ang mga paaralan na matugunan ang mental health issues ng mga estudyante sa rehiyon.
Sinabi ni Calzita na mahalaga ang mga counselor sa DepEd schools dahil pinangangalagaan nila ang mental health ng mga mag-aaral, ginagabayan ang career development, at tinitiyak ang child protection.
Aniya, ang mga counselor ay legally mandated professionals na umaakto bilang first responders sa mga isyu, gaya ng depression, bullying, at family conflict, kaya importanteng pundasyon sila ng holistic education.
