Umaasa ang National Maritime Polytechnic o NMP na aaprubahan ng Kamara ang kanilang isinumiteng modernization plan na nagkakahalaga ng ₱1.3 bilyon.
Sa ginanap na Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas, ipinahayag ni NMP Deputy Executive Director Myla Macadawan na naipasa na nila ang modernization plan sa opisina ni House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, sa pamamagitan ni Chairperson of the Committee on Overseas Workers Affairs at Tingog Partylist Rep. Jude Acidre.
Nakasaad sa planong ito ang mga inisyatibo ng NMP na pagandahin ang kanilang mga pasilidad at imprastruktura, palawakin ang kanilang kapasidad sa training at research, at pagbutihin ang kanilang kabuuang serbisyo.
