Former NPA members surrender to government forces

Through the 52nd IB Special Intelligence Operation of the 8th Infantry Division Philippine Army , two NPA members voluntarily surrendered to government forces on August 29 at Jipapad, E. Samar. 

CMO Battalion said that the first one to concede was affiliated with the F3 (D), SCR, Arctic EVRPC and  surrendered an M14 rifle, 4 magazines and 40 ammunitions; while the other one without firearms also yielded to the intel platoon was a member of P2, FC 15 (D), SRC, Arctic. Because of his surrender, intelligence unit was able to discover 11 containers (or 20 liters) of rice from the area.

Acting Commanding Officer of 52nd Infantry Battalion  Arnold Verania commended the troops on the successful intelligence operation. He encouraged the former rebels and the stakeholders to sustain its cooperation through the Local Peace Engagements initiatives, and contribute in the promotion of culture of peace in conflict-affected and conflict-vulnerable communities.

“I congratulate the troops for an excellent execution of this operation. It was not an easy task for them, but with their dedication, it happened. Once again,, I would like to call the attention of the families and relatives of the NPAs to convince them to surrender to the folds of law and enjoy the government program through the E-CLIP and other support programs designed to aid their transition, thus provide a fresh start,” he added.
